If you are doing everything you can to make a splash on Instagram, you are going to start getting flooded with questions about your services and/or products and maybe even some meeting requests! It’s SO important to engage with your audience, but responding to all of these messages individually can be time-consuming. That’s why I recommend using quick replies.
Quick re-whats? Quick replies! This is an awesome Instagram feature that allows you to set up automated responses to frequently asked questions in your direct messages. All you have to do is type in a shortcut word to trigger the quick reply you want and BAM, there it is. Talk about saving time!
Now, if you don’t think you have enough direct messages on Intagram to even bother with quick replies, think again. There are more reasons to use them than just for volume of messages...
For instance, if you have more than one person managing your Instagram account, quick replies help keep your message on brand with a uniform voice, speaking on behalf of your company. You also don’t have to worry about any of those pesky typos sneaking in when you’re trying to quickly reply to a message. This is especially helpful since quick replies can include emojis and direct URLs to your website (which I highly recommend using), things you don’t want to worry about re-typing over and over again.
Still need a reason? Well, guess what… Quick replies can also be used as lead magnets!
Say someone asks you a question about a recent post. You can respond with a personal message first then follow it up with a second, quick reply message promoting a product or service! Or, you can just edit that quick reply directly in the direct message to make it a little more personal. Either way, most of the heavy lifting is already done.
So, be honest, have I convinced you? I mean, who doesn’t love a good time saver! “But Lisa, how do I even make quick replies?” Don’t worry. I’m here to walk you through how to set up and use this feature on Instagram with a step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Open your direct messages.
Step 2: Select any of your existing direct messages.
Step 3: Click on the black circle with the plus sign in the bottom right corner.
Step 4: Click on the quick reply message bubble (the 4th icon from the left).
Step 5: Click on the plus sign to create a new quick reply.
Step 6: Give your quick replay a shortcut word in the Shortcut Field. This is all you will need to type into the message field to activate the quick reply.
Then, enter the entire message in the Message Field.
Step 7: In this example, you can see the 3 quick replies I have set up and the shortcut names above them.
Step 8: If you ever need to edit an existing quick reply, just swipe left on the individual quick reply and select edit.
Step 9: Once set up, type your shortcut in the message box and a blue quick reply bubble will pop up.
Step 10: After you click on the bubble, the quick reply text automatically goes into the message. However, note that it has not been sent yet, meaning you can still edit if needed. Once you're satisfied, just click SEND.
Bonus: Since I included a link to my website in this quick reply, you can now see a hotlink in their inbox!
As you can see, it's so easy to save yourself time with quick replies. So, jump in and set some set up in your Instagram account as soon as you can! And, as always, Direct Message me your social successes @lisaperrysocial. I love to hear from you!
